"Edward been truly amazing to work with! He was able to make a custom album for us that perfectly fit the vision and aesthetic that I had. We ordered two large matching black folio albums and have the intention to order another each year to keep family photos, papers, and memories in."

Traditional & Modern Techniques!

Kranz Books Bindery only uses the finest calf, goat, and exotic leathers available in the world. We work with several book leather providers to ensure the highest quality and options for our bookbinding projects and clients.

The history of the book and it’s binding styles is rich in culture and artistic creativity. Kranz Books Bindery strives to master historic binding structures such as Byzantine binding and the Medieval Girdle Book. Other significant historic binding structures we practice include Limp Vellum Binding, Ethiopian Binding, and the German Bradel Binding. Most recently, we have started to explore the structure and significance of the Nag Hammadi Codex and its applications.

While we at Kranz Books Bindery do not create books made with modern bindings styles such as spiral wire or plastic comb bindings, we do utilize techniques such as saddle stitch and side stitch bindings on occasion. Case Bound (section sewing) is more prevalent in our bindery from cloth to leather, quarter to full bindings. Springback, Oxford Hollow, French & English bindings styles are very common “modern” bindings styles we employee for our more modern bindings here at Kranz Books Binding.
